The Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers have been repeatedly mentioned as the two teams with interest in Deandre Ayton, but there are still expected to be other suitors emerging as the offseason continues.
The Utah Jazz have been described as an “unlikely destination” for Ayton despite the hole at center following the trade of Rudy Gobert.
The Pacers and San Antonio Spurs are the only two teams currently possessing enough cap space to sign Ayton outright to a max contract. Ayton might prefer a sign-and-trade outcome to a playoff team rather than rebuilding situations.
A resolution to Ayton’s free agency is widely considered unlikely until after the Kevin Durant trade situation is resolved since he could be folded into a larger deal.
