Purdue star center Isaac Haas fractured his elbow during Friday’s win over Cal State Fullerton. He was originally deemed out for the rest of the NCAA Tournament.
It is understandable that Haas doesn’t want his Purdue career to end that way. Still, it is crazy to think that he could conceivably play.
And yet, Haas is warming up ahead of Purdue’s second round game. The Boilermakers play No. 10 seed Butler.
Isaac Haas has a big wrap around the elbow.
As Allie LaForce says in her tweet, he’s only attempting short shots and free brows. If he can’t convert those pain-free, it doesn’t seem like he can play.
Gregg Doyel asked head coach Matt Painter about Haas’s status. He made it pretty clear that he won’t play.
Haas suffered the injury during the second half of Friday’s game. He finished with nine points and 10 rebounds on the day.
After the game, he told reporters that he felt okay. However, further evaluation revealed the fracture.
Haas averages 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. At 7-foot-2, he said a game changer inside for Painter’s team.
Purdue and Butler tip off at 12:10 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
The winner will advance to the Sweet 16. Texas Tech awaits the winner, after beating Florida on a Saturday.
