David Jenkins Jr. has been a scoring machine through two years at South Dakota State. Now, he’s looking to finish his college career on a bigger stage.
Following a Second Team All-Summit League season as a freshman in 2017-18, Jenkins made first team this year. He averaged 19.7 points per game this season.
A few days ago, he announced that he had received his release to head elsewhere. We now know what some of his options might be.
The list of schools expressing interest in David Jenkins Jr. includes Arizona, Gonzaga, Kansas, and Notre Dame.
SB Nation’s Ellie Lieberman posted a list, which also features Butler, Cincinnati, Colorado, Memphis, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma State, Seattle, TCU, UCSB, UNLV, and Washington State.
Jenkins tweeted that he had received his release on Monday.
Two years into his college career, Jenkins will likely have to sit on the year when he transfers. He will then have two years to play at whichever new program he lands at.
Expect him to receive plenty of attention. Jenkins can really score it.
This season, he shot over 45-percent from the floor and three-point range, knocking down 3.5 three-pointers per game. The Jackrabbits reached the NIT, where they fell to Texas, now a finalist in the tournament, 79-73.
