Fordham’s Joseph Chartouny has been a major factor for the Rams throughout his entire college career. The 6-foot-3 Canadian guard has been a double digit scorer in each of his three college seasons.
As a junior in 2017-18, he scorer a career high 12.2 points per game. He also led the nation with 3.3 steals per game.
Like many other small-school stars, Chartouny is transferring for his final season. There’s a good chance he ends up at a pretty big-time program.
ESPN’s Jeff Goodman has a list of 10 fairly prominent college basketball programs that Joseph Chartouny has heard from.
A few basketball powers, like Arizona, Louisville, and UConn, are involved. The list also includes Butler, Marquette, Nevada, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, SMU.
There’s no indication whether Chartouny favors any of these programs. All would be a solid step up in competition from what he faced at Fordham.
The Rams compete in the Atlantic 10 conference. The Bronx-based school has struggled to contend with the top of that league.
This past season, Fordham went just 9-22. In three years, head coach Jeff Neubauer is 39-52 with the Rams, with a 19-33 A10 record.
Joseph Chartouny has been a consistent performer since joining the program, however. He averaged 11.3 points per game as a freshman, and his scoring has risen steadily in the two years since.
His sophomore year was actually his best as a shooter. Chartouny shot 41.5-percent from the field, and 38.2-percent from three point range in 2016-17.
