The Terps’ head coach knows offense and offered words on the Hoosiers’ ahead of their game this week.
Mike Locksley is in his sixth year at the helm of Maryland’s football program, where he’s enjoyed a three year run of success against Indiana as of late.
Under the old Big Ten East alignment, the two were among each’s primary obstacles to achieving bowl eligibility. With Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and for a time Michigan State all on the schedule every year, the Hoosiers and Terrapins typically had to go through one another to achieve six wins.
Locksley’s offense bested Tom Allen’s defense the past three seasons, never putting less than 38 points in the scoreboard. Things are a bit different now, with Indiana’s offense giving Maryland’s coach a bit more to handle.
“Best offense that we will face,” Locksley said during his weekly media availability ahead of the matchup.
It’s worth noting that Maryland’s schedule contains the likes of Lincoln Riley’s USC, Oregon and Penn State, among others.
He went on to praise Indiana’s set of running backs and the use of the run-pass option by the Hoosiers. With Kurtis Rourke looking like one of the best signal callers in the Big Ten, Indiana’s offense has been a handful through the first four weeks of the season.
