The Indiana Hoosiers notched a huge win over Big Ten rival Iowa yesterday, but not before one of their stars got into a heated exchange with America’s most popular player: Caitlin Clark.
During the second quarter, Clark attempted to dribble inside the paint for a layup when Indiana guard Yarden Garzon blocked her and drew a foul. Clark scrambled up and got into Garzon’s face about it and the game officials had to step in between them before things got even more heated.
After the replay, Garzon seemed to do her best to try and act innocent, but the officials weren’t buying it.
Fans, on the other hand, didn’t agree with the notion that what Garzon did was a dirty play. In the replies, many pointed out that it was a very straightforward foul call and nothing out of the ordinary.
“wasn’t dirty got the foul no complaining,” one user wrote in the YouTube comments.
“All the push offs she gets away with. She really needs to just hush,” wrote another.
“Clark seems to anticipate contact when she draws in. She needs to do a better job of switching her shot because the defense is definitely getting better against her. Her opponent was almost vertical when she made contact. Maybe a floater or quick stop and step back would help Clark more,” a third explained.
For Indiana, the win pushed them to second in the Big Ten standings heading into their final two games of the season. But Ohio State can clinch the regular season title if they win just one more game.
