Another candidate to keep an eye on
With Dusty May and Brad Stevens likely staying put, one of the names most frequently associated with the Indiana job has been Clemson head coach Brad Brownell.
Unlike May and UCLA’s Mick Cronin, Brownell didn’t take a trip to Assembly Hall this year to set up reporters to ask about his interest in the job. That didn’t stop the question from being floated anyway.

“I’m not going to talk about potential jobs, I have a great job. I’m 100 percent focused on this team and what we’ve got ahead of us, trying to do everything I can to help us continue to win the next game.”
He went on to say that he was flattered by the speculation, that it was a reflection of how well his team had been playing this year, and discussed his family’s connections to Clemson.
Notably, Brownell didn’t shut down the speculation outright. This was also the case with May when he initially asked, which amped up the pressure on Michigan to eventually extend him with a raise.
Clemson may feel similar pressure now to extend Brownell, but the the level of interest between the two parties remains unclear. Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson has kept things close to the chest with this process, as he did with the search that eventually landed Curt Cignetti.
Only time will tell whether there’s any truth to the rumors connecting Brownell to the Indiana job, but it does appear the process is moving forward with a shorter list of candidates.
