It’s the regionals for the NCAA Baseball Tournament this week and the University of Kentucky has come under fire for the housing they’ve provided for the visiting teams.
A video has been going viral on Thursday of the dorms that the visiting West Virginia Mountaineers baseball players and staff were given. Despite being promised “apartment style suites,” the reality has been wildly and almost hilariously different.
The dorm room that was showed in the video is a small space that is more fit for overcrowded freshmen rather than proper suites with all of the amenities of an apartment.
Per Tristan Pharis of A Sea of Blue, the Mountaineers, Indiana Hoosiers and Ball State Cardinals are facing issues of lack of hotel availability. Several pre-booked concerts and other sports tournaments have sapped the Lexington area of hotel availability.
The controversy around Kentucky Baseball’s NCAA regional & lack of hotel availability has been well reported.
Per ESPN, UK officials described the dorms that opposing teams would be staying in as “apartment style suites”.
That does not look to be the case per WVU players/staff. pic.twitter.com/imNwS5geyt

The NCAA allowed Kentucky to move forward as a host site for the NCAA regionals. But the end result is a bad look for Kentucky and one that might make the NCAA think twice about giving them such privileges the next time they have similar issues.
