An eventful week in Indiana so far.
Well, Wednesday was definitely something for the Hoosiers.
The good: Curt Cignetti was pretty funny on Twitter
The bad: Indiana lost out on 5-star wing Jalen Haralson
Indiana’s men’s basketball had been recruiting Haralson, who plays at the La Lumiere School in La Porte but is originally from Fishers, for years. Instead he’ll be taking his talents to a different in state program led by a different Hoosier state native: Micah Shrewsberry’s Notre Dame.
Haralson had a final three of Indiana, Notre Dame and Michigan State with Purdue’s last-minute visit ultimately being cancelled just before the weekend of. There’s probably not much more Indiana could’ve done on this one. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t.
Indiana has a 5-star wing on the roster, Bryson Tucker, who could ultimately become a multi-year guy for the program. There’s also the transfer portal and potential late recruits to go after should the Hoosiers desire such a player.
Remember, Indiana landed a different in-state priority target, Trent Sisley, earlier this week. The recruiting focus now shifts to in-state shooting guard Braylon Mullins, who will decide from a trio of Indiana, UConn or North Carolina in October.
Now onto Cignetti.
A Maryland fan on Twitter made a joke about the following scenario, taking a dig at Indiana in the process:
BLOOMINGTON: Following a D’Angelo Ponds blown coverage, Coach Cignetti blew practice dead at the John Mellencamp Pavilion.
“These mistakes won’t fly against Maryland,” said a pained Cignetti. “This is the same school that kept Derik Queen home. Remember what they took from us.” pic.twitter.com/Hx7XxJhAAk

And Cignetti had a response:
Not true

Indiana’s fanbase delighted in it. Was it a joke? A serious rebuttal? Who cares, it’s funny.
