IU swim legend to represent United States in Paris.
Former Indiana Swim and Dive standout Lilly King became IU’s first women’s swimmer to qualify for three Olympic Games when she won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:05.43 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials last night in Indianapolis.

King burst onto the Olympic scene when she won gold and set an Olympic record of 1:04.93 in the 100 breast at the 2016 Rio Games. She took bronze in the same event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will try to medal for a third straight Games in Paris.
Doing so would pad King’s lead as IU’s all-time leader in women’s Olympic medals. The Evansville native made the podium five times between the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games to add to a gaudy resume that includes eight NCAA titles and countless other accolades.
Several former and current Hoosier swimmers and divers are in contention to join King on Team USA. Their fates will become known later this week as Team Trials continue.
