The senior will leave the postseason with at least one ring on the way.
Indiana baseball pitcher Ty Bothwell is getting at least one ring out of this year’s NCAA Tournament run.
The senior proposed to his girlfriend following the Hoosiers’ 10-4 win against Southern Miss at the Knoxville Regional. It was Bothwell’s arm that helped get Indiana over the line, finishing the day with a line of 5.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER.

Afterward, he met up with his girlfriend outside on the edge of the field to take a photo. Bothwell reached for his back pocket during the photo before getting down on one knee and presenting a ring.

The proposal was the result of a bet between Bothwell and his head coach, Jeff Mercer, per Nick Rodecap of the Indiana Daily Student. If Indiana made the postseason, Bothwell would propose during the regional.
Bothwell, a redshirt senior, has gradually improved during his five years with the program and ultimately proved instrumental in getting the Hoosiers into the winners’ bracket.
