The Hoosiers’ season came to a close in the first round of the playoff.
10-seed Indiana Indiana’s historic 2024 season came to an end on Friday with a 27-17 loss to 7-seed Notre Dame at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.
The game was the Hoosiers’ first postseason appearance since the Outback Bowl in 2021 and marked the program’s first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Indiana has plenty to be proud of this season. The Hoosiers re-entered the national rankings for the first time since 2021, started the Curt Cignetti era off with a bang, won back the Old Brass Spittoon with a win over Michigan State, reclaimed the Old Oaken Bucket in a 66-0 win over rival Purdue and their 11 wins are the most in program history.
Ultimately, the two losses will leave a sour taste in most’s mouths. Indiana lost its two most important games by substantial margins, with one being the most important in program history. There’s some reprieves in each of those losses coming to other playoff teams, but still. A loss is a loss.
Indiana’s attention will now turn to the transfer portal as the program looks to build off of the success of 2024.
