Back to Basics
After seeing some players leak previews on Instagram earlier today, Indiana football has officially released images of its new uniforms for the Cignetti era.

The most notable change here is the lack of black accents on the numbers and letters. The black was never popular with us here at the blog, and as we wrote earlier, a reflection of adidas’ seeming inattention to Indiana football.
While I have liked some of the creative options Indiana has had in the past (bring back the chrome helmets, dammit), I’m finding a hard time finding anything to dislike about these new unis. They’re basic, easily identifiable as Indiana, and feature names on the back.
In other words, they look like every other Indiana University athletics uniform. Classic, recognizable, and easy to build a brand around. Though we don’t know what the helmet(s) will look like, it’s probably fair to expect something similarly straightforward in which logo and color scheme appear.
I love a good alternate, but these look great as primary home uniforms, so I’m excited to see what else the new contract with adidas yields.
