Evans himself may not have been slated to start at left guard heading into the season with Nick Kidwell, a transfer from JMU, having been lost to injury during the preseason. He’s put together a solid year for the Hoosiers and leaves a hole on the line.
This’ll test Indiana’s depth in the trenches even further, especially against one of the better interior defensive fronts in the Big Ten.
The offensive line has flipped from a perennial liability to a bright spot on the roster after Tom Allen hired Bob Bostad, formerly of the same position at Wisconsin, to lead the group in 2023. Curt Cignetti elected to keep Bostad in Bloomington during the coaching transition, the sole position coach to remain with the program this past offseason.
