The Hoosiers land a commitment and host a few visitors.
The past week was a big one for Indiana’s transfer portal hopes.
The Hoosiers landed their first commitment of the cycle, scheduled a few visits and hosted their first few prospects on campus.
Let’s dive into what happened:
Myles Rice commits
Indiana likely landed its point guard for the upcoming season when former Washington State guard Myles Rice committed on Saturday. It was the second day of his official visit, so it’s safe to say the staff did a tremendous job on this one.
He’s a rising redshirt sophomore coming off of a season leading the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008. His shooting numbers raised some eyebrows, but there’s less to be concerned about than you’d think on that front.

Indiana hosts four prospects over the weekend
The Hoosiers welcomed four transfer portal prospects to Bloomington this past weekend:
- Washington State guard Myles Rice (Committed)
- Arizona center Oumar Ballo
- Minnesota forward Pharrel Payne
- Bradley guard Connor Hickman
Rice, obviously, committed during day two of his visit. It’s worth noting that former Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle, another portal target, reposted Rice’s commitment announcement on social media not long after.
Aside from that, getting Ballo first is an opportunity to lock him down. The recruitment isn’t over until its over and he has other visits planned, but you’d rather have transfer prospects on your campus first to close.
Payne would be an interesting add, but it would probably come down to Ballo’s decision and the role he’s looking for. Something similar could be said for Hickman, a 41% 3-point shooter at Bradley who played at Bloomington South High School. He also has a visit lined up with Cincinnati.
Amari Williams, Kanaan Carlyle to visit
Indiana reportedly has two visits set this upcoming weekend:
Carlyle has received a 247Sports crystal ball in favor of the Hoosiers from Travis Branham. Williams has other visits lined up with programs looking to close before he leaves campus, something to keep an eye on.
