Mike Woodson secured a commitment today from one of Indiana’s top portal prospects, a former Washington State Cougar with three years of eligibility left, per Joe Tipton.

Myles Rice was considered one of the top guards in the transfer portal this season after an impressive year in the former Pac-12, where he averaged 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Rice used a medical redshirt season in 2021-22 while receiving treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma before his breakout campaign in 2022-23. Rice started all 35 games for Washington State last year.
His shooting numbers weren’t the strongest, but his free-throw percentage and 3-point attempts per game number are promising. Despite struggling from deep, Rice attempted 3.7 3-pointers per contest.
That he was able to average over 14 points per game while shooting just 27.5% from behind the arc is a testament to the playmaker that Rice is. He is the type of guard that will attract other elite players to the program with his ability to create for others.
Another good season may have the 6’3” prospect on the NBA radar, but for now, Indiana has a point guard with a high upside and multiple years of eligibility remaining.
