There are quite a few connections between the state of Georgia and the program. Atlanta hosted the Hoosiers for a Holiday Hoopsgiving event and multiple members of this year’s roster (Kanaan Carlyle, Myles Rice, Jakai Newton) call the Peach State home.
Mike Woodson landed his first head coaching role with the Hawks in 2004 and maintains a residence in Atlanta, he’s mentioned on multiple occasions. Additionally, Associate Head Coach Yasir Rosemond is originally from Atlanta.
Stewart spent just two years with the Hoosiers, joining as a mid-season transfer in 2020 under Archie Miller before entering and exiting the transfer portal upon the hiring of Woodson that offseason. He started in 31 of the 34 games he appeared in during the 2021-22 season and averaged 6.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
