The Hoosiers, once again, have some outside expectations.
Indiana men’s basketball entered into ESPN’s way-too-early top 25 college basketball teams ahead of the 2024-25 season, coming in at 18th.
Jeff Borzello praised Mike Woodson’s transfer portal work in the offseason, noting the additions of top center Oumar Ballo, dynamic guards in Myles Rice and Kanaan Carlyle, and a reliable shooter in Luke Goode.
Indiana lost a few pieces including seniors Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker. Kel’el Ware departed for the NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Miami Heat in the first round. But key players including Malik Reneau, Mackenzie Mgbako and Trey Galloway opted to return to Bloomington.
The Hoosiers are no strangers to expectations given the program’s pedigree. The 2022-23 roster entered the season ranked and as Big Ten title favorites before finishing second in the league and earning a 4-seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, bowing out in the Round of 32.
The program’s expectations will likely only increase as the offseason goes on. This isn’t the first list of this kind that the Hoosiers will be named to.
