The talented guard is seemingly one of the Hoosiers’ top targets.
Indiana men’s basketball is actively recruiting Sam Houston transfer guard Lamar Wilkerson, having hosted him for a visit this past weekend in Bloomington.
Wilkerson is currently one of the most highly coveted players available in the portal. Let’s get into his profile:
Background
Wilkerson is a 6-5 guard out of Sam Houston State heading into his senior year with a single season of eligibility remaining.
He averaged 20.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 44.5% from long range for the Bearkats in 34.9 minutes per game. He finished with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in Sam Houston’s 97-71 loss to Indiana in Assembly Hall this past season.
The fit
Wilkerson has the size and ability to play at shooting guard or on the wing, valuable versatility for a fluid roster situation in Bloomington. The shooting ability is obviously what stands out and would give Indiana two great options from the perimeter in the starting five alongside Tucker DeVries.
With the lack of other talent on Indiana’s roster, he’d be positioned to have the ball quite a bit and would allow the staff to add pieces around him and DeVries should he commit.
