Third game in six days for the Hoosiers.
#14 Indiana women’s basketball and #3 Iowa, the reigning Big Ten and Big Ten Tournament champions, are on a collision course. The squads are tied atop the league at 4-0 in conference play and have each suffered just one loss all season.
The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes will play Saturday night in Iowa City but have midweek business to take care of first. Iowa is set to visit Purdue on Wednesday while Indiana will host Penn State that same evening.

Game Notes
#14 Indiana (13-1, 4-0 Big Ten) played its most complete game of the season Sunday and tore up Nebraska 91-69 in Lincoln.
Mackenzie Holmes, Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish, and Sara Scalia all scored in double figures as the Hoosiers shot a season-best 14-23 (60.7%) from three.
Indiana played incredibly driven basketball for forty minutes to thoroughly beat a legit Cornhuskers side. If you let the Hoosiers reach their flow state…. you’re gonna have a bad time.
You can read more about the victory here.
Penn State (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) almost pulled the upset and led at halftime when these teams met in Happy Valley last year.
Although they lack the depth and size of the high-end Big Ten teams, the Nittany Lions are talented enough to give Indiana a run when at full strength. The problem is they’re not that right now.
Fifth-year guard Makenna Marisa averaged 17.2 points per game over Penn State’s first ten contests but hasn’t played since December 10 due to injury. Her status for Wednesday’s game is not yet determined and the same can be said for graduate guard Ashley Owusu.
Owusu, who won the 2021 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award as the nation’s best shooting guard while at Maryland, has yet to suit up for Penn State after transferring in from Virginia Tech last summer.
The reason for Owusu’s absence is unknown but injuries were a big reason her sole year in Blacksburg didn’t go according to plan.
Owusu/Marisa situation aside, Penn State’s managed a 10-4 record so far thanks to its complementary players. Graduate guard Tay Valladay’s making the offense go and dropped 32 in PSU’s 98-87 loss to Michigan State last month.
Sophomore guard Shay Ciekzi continues to improve after a solid freshman campaign and Leilani Kapinus is holding it down on the defensive end. The redshirt junior guard snagged nine rebounds with six steals last time out, a 95-55 win over Northwestern.
Getting Marisa and/or Owusu back could make things interesting but Indiana’s incredibly hot right now. CQ does not foresee many problems for the Hoosiers in this one.
