Kadlecova, a 6-0 freshman guard from Kadan, Czechia, joins the Hoosiers after spending 2023-24 with DSK Levhartice Chomutov in her home country. She averaged 11.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 43.9% from the field last season.
Kadlecova’s also represented the Czech Republic on multiple occasions and led the team with 16.1 points per contest at the 2023 European U20 Championships. All three international players on the Indiana roster (Yarden Garzon, Israel; Henna Sandvik, Finland) have all played for their home country in FIBA competition.
Kadlecova joins freshman forwards Sydney Fenn and Faith Wiseman in addition to transfers Karoline Striplin (Sr., F, Tennessee) and Shay Ciezki (Jr., G, Penn State) as newcomers in Bloomington.
Hailing from overseas, we know little about Kadlecova’s game right now. Indiana head coach Teri Moren does her homework, though, and is unafraid to bring in an international player she believes can make a difference.
Junior forward Yarden Garzon was not a known commodity two years ago and then boom: started every game and asserted herself as one of the nation’s best 3-point shooters. Indiana fans would love a similar story here.
Kadlecova’s addition to the roster is certainly late, but warranted and welcome. Adding a guard to a recruiting class solely consisting of frontcourt players makes a ton of sense. We’ll have more on what she brings to the team soon.
