The Hoosiers add more shooting through the transfer portal.
Indiana women’s basketball landed a commitment from Penn State transfer guard Shay Ciezki late Thursday night.

It’s a huge add for the Hoosiers and fills an immediate need when it comes to shooting. The roster had plenty returning with Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish and Yarden Garzon all back for next season, but the more the merrier.
On top of that, Ciezki has two years of eligibility remaining, having spent the past two seasons in State College.
Ciezki can fill a bit of the void left by the departing Sara Scalia, who set a high bar as the best shooter in program history last season when it comes to made 3-pointers. Ciezki shot 41.6% as a true freshman and then 36.8% this past season.
She can catch fire from deep and lit up Central Connecticut for 40 points on a 8-14 clip from long range this past season. As a sophomore, there’s a window of time for her to keep improving.
Instant analysis
Teri Moren loaded up on shooting in the 2022 offseason and hasn’t looked back. That 2021-22 roster had a few options from deep but it became a focal point of the offense in the run to the Big Ten title and remained this past year.
Now the Hoosiers are among the best 3-point shooting teams in the country and the staff wants to keep it that way. Just about everyone on the roster has a green light to fire from deep if open.
Fellow transfer addition Karoline Striplin can shoot the deep ball and both incoming forwards have that in their skillset as well. It hasn’t been often, but we’ve seen Lilly Meister make a few 3s here and there and her form is very good.
Truly replacing someone like Scalia is a near impossible task but Indiana did as good a job as they could here. Great move for the roster.
