Nebraska suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, as they were blown out by undefeated Indiana. Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers scored 56 points on the Huskers, moving to 7-0 for the first time since 1967.
Saturday was a great day for an emerging Indiana program, but the same can’t be said for Matt Rhule and Nebraska. The Huskers were dominated in every facet of the game, leading to one of the worst losses they’re likely to face all season.
It’s safe to say that many Nebraska fans were at a loss for words after seeing their team lose in such embarrassing fashion, and the same could be said for their head coach.
“I’ll be honest with you guys—I didn’t see this coming. I thought we were going to play great.”
Matt Rhule said he’s ’embarrassed’ by the job he did getting his team ready for Indiana today.

After the game, Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said that he was surprised by his team’s performance today, and he took responsibility.
“As I told the guys in there, this happened on my watch,” said the head coach. “And I’ll be honest with you guys, I didn’t see this coming. I thought we were going to play great.”
After going through some of the various miscues and mistakes the team made during the game, Rhule put the blame on the entire team and eventually back on himself.
“It’s just bad football by us,” Rhule said. “I’m not embarrassed by our players, but I’m embarrassed by the job that I did, you know, to get our team ready. I have to do a better job next week and the week after.”
Next week will be difficult for Rhule and his team, as they’ll head to Columbus to face the No. 4-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State is looking to remain on track this season following their loss to Oregon last week.
We’ll see how Rhule, freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola and the rest of the Huskers respond next week when they take on the Buckeyes.
The game can be seen next Saturday at Noon ET on FOX.
