Goodman went on to note that McCollum has “really impressed Indiana AD Scott Dolson,”. McCollum is in his first season coaching Drake after having been the head coach at division-II Northwest Missouri State since 2009.
Drake’s Bulldogs went 30-3 overall and 17-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference, winning the league’s tournament to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament this season. His name has been linked to the Indiana job previously in coaching hot boards and lists.
He’d present something of a departure in style for Indiana as his lone team at Drake is known for its lack of tempo. The Bulldogs play at the slowest pace in all of NCAA Division-I, per KenPom’s efficiency stats.
