The quarterback is slated to return this season but his timeline isn’t clear.
Indiana football will be without starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke when it takes on Washington at home this upcoming weekend, per Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star and Pete Thamel of ESPN.
Kurtis Rourke is expected to miss IU’s game against Washington because of the injury suffered in yesterday’s win over Nebraska, per a source. Rourke is expected to return again at some point this season. @PeteThamel had it first. #iufb

Rourke sustained a thumb injury on his throwing hand during Indiana’s game against Nebraska, leaving the game before reentering in the first half. After a handful of throws, Rourke did not rejoin the team in the second half and was replaced by Tayven Jackson.
Jackson, who is likely to start in Rourke’s place against the Huskies, completed 7/8 attempts against the Huskers for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. With Rourke being among the best quarterbacks in the country this season, Jackson will have big shoes to fill.
Osterman noted that Rourke is expected to return at some point this season, which is obviously good news for Indiana. The Hoosiers take on Washington, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue in their remaining schedule.
