Two Indiana players entered the transfer portal a day after it opened.
Per Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star, forwards Kaleb Banks and Payton Sparks became the first Hoosiers to put their names into the portal this spring.
Neither player saw much action for Indiana this season.
Banks recorded 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds during his sophomore season. The sophomore averaged 10.7 minutes in 21 games off the bench and went five straight games without scoring before tallying two points in a Big Ten tournament loss to Nebraska.
Sparks transferred from Ball State after averaging 13.3 points and 8.7 rebounds last season. The 6-foot-10 junior produced just 2.1 points and 1.8 boards per contest with the Hoosiers.
He played 40 combined minutes in his last 10 games after starting a Jan. 19 loss to Wisconsin.
After making last year’s NCAA tournament as a No. 4 seed, Indiana went 19-14 with a 10-10 Big Ten record. The Hoosiers responded to a late four-game losing streak with five straight wins before the Huskers dominated them in a conference tournament quarterfinals matchup.
Indiana declined an NIT invitation after failing to make the NCAA tournament. Head coach Mike Woodson will now focus on offseason preparation.
While Indiana loses some depth and size with Banks and Sparks entering the portal, Kel’el Ware’s future is a bigger concern. The 7-footer could declare for the NBA Draft after leading the Hoosiers in points, rebounds, and blocks as a sophomore.
