The Crimson Quarry staff weighs in on this year’s Super Bowl matchup.
Super Bowl LIX is set with the Kansas City Chiefs (with former Hoosiers Cam Jones and Peyton Hendershot on the roster) taking on the Philadelphia Eagles (former Hoosier Nate Sudfeld won Super Bowl LII with the organization in 2018).
Here are our takes on this year’s big game:
On the matchup:
LCN: Ehhhh I just don’t like repeat matchups. All those years when the NBA would just end in Cavs-Warriors got tired pretty quickly. We’ve seen this game before and I’ve admittedly got some Chiefs fatigue. It’s just not all that interesting.
Colin: I don’t want the Chiefs to win but I won’t bet against them until they give me a reason to.
What we’re looking forward to:
LCN: Kendrick.
Colin: Saquon looks like the best player in football right now and I love old-school, run first-football. Looking forward to see him cook.
Who wins and why?
LCN: I think it’d be funny if the Chiefs and the NFL went to all that trouble to get Pat Riley’s permission to use “Three-peat” just to not get to use it. So, Eagles.
Colin: Probably the Chiefs because nobody can beat the Chiefs
Super Bowl MVP pick?
LCN: Saquon.
Colin: Going with a darkhorse and IU shout out in Cam Jones here. Maybe a few forced fumbles or so, a guy that comes in off the bench and gets hot from the linebacker spot. Who knows?
