Surprise, surprise!
Indiana landed another portal commitment today from Tucker DeVries, son of head coach Darian DeVries.
Tucker’s commitment should not come as a surprise, having already followed his dad from Drake to West Virginia last season. He played just eight games for the Mountaineers last year before sitting out with an injury that should be healed by the time he gets to Bloomington.
Prior to his injury, he was one of West Virginia’s most valuable players, averaging nearly 15 points per game and shooting the lights out from 3-point range. Though the sample size was small, he shot 47% from deep last year and has range well beyond the arc.
DeVries was the two time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year before transferring to West Virginia, and spent two seasons as teammates with fellow Hoosier Conor Enright, who also committed to Indiana today.
Coach DeVries now has two scholarship players who are familiar with each other and his systems, which should ease the transition for incoming recruit Trent Sisley and whoever else fills out this Indiana roster.
