The situation is fluid
Around 3:15 AM, a driver on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, drove into a crowd of people enjoying the New Year’s night. Ten people were killed and 35 more were injured in the attack. The driver, who’s name has not been released yet, stopped the car and immediately got out to start shooting at law enforcement officers at the scene. The driver was killed by police fire.
This was, unquestionably, a terrorist attack — although no other details are known regarding who the driver is or why the driver attacked this crowd of people.
Obviously this situation has put the Sugar Bowl between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Georgia Bulldogs into jeopardy. As of right now, the game is still scheduled to be played.
New Orleans’ police commissioner said the Sugar Bowl will be played as scheduled Wednesday night amid an investigation after a driver in a pickup truck plowed through crowds on Bourbon Street, killing 10 and injuring at least 35.https://t.co/Zrcd6fm8Qg
