An injury hit
On Monday, Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman held his weekly press conference to wrap up the blow out over Florida State, and to start to look toward this weekend’s game against the Virginia Cavaliers.
Freeman touched on a variety of topics, but maybe the most important had to due with the health of the team. Star DT Howard Cross is out this week — but will likely be back in action soon.
Notre Dame released the depth charts for this week:
OFFENSE
We’re dealing with a fairly healthy group right now as the depth chart stays the same as last week. One of the best things that came out of Saturday was the play of tight end Mitchell Evans who had been slowly coming back from his injury while playing. After weeks of looking less than what we know he can be, Evans finally looked like the player he was before his injury last season.
DEFENSE
Donovan Hinish takes over as the starting defensive tackle with Howard Cross out. Hinish had a big game last week with two sacks, and continually looks like a “real Hinish” out there. We should expect to see a much bigger role for Armel Mukam this week, and more snaps for freshman Sean Sevillano.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Mitch Jeter is still a little banged up, so we may not see him do ALL of the kicking duties this week. Freeman also had Max Hurleman as questionable right now, so we might see more of Jaden Greathouse or Jordan Faison returning punts this week.
