16 years ago Plaxico Burress helped the New York Giants pull off one of the biggest upsets in sports history when he caught the game-winning touchdown pass against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Ahead of this year’s Super Bowl, his son – who he held in his arms after the game – is taking a big step in his own football career.
According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Burress has committed to Notre Dame. He is a three-star prospect at wide receiver in the Class of 2025.
247Sports rates Burress as the No. 36 wide receiver in the country and the No. 11 prospect from the state of New Jersey.
This past year he had 25 catches for 434 yards and five scores while playing for DePaul Catholic.
ProFootballTalk noted that Burress will be joined in the Notre Dame recruiting class by Ivan Taylor, the son of former NFL cornerback Ike Taylor – who also happened to be a teammate of Burress in the NFL.
Plaxico Burress played 12 seasons in the NFL, recording four seasons with over 1,000 yards in stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, with the most iconic moment of his career being the game-winning touchdown reception in Super Bowl XLII.
