Arguably the biggest week one game of the 2024 college football season will take place on Saturday.
“College GameDay” will be in College Station for the Notre Dame-Texas A&M game. It’s a matchup that will feature two of the 20 best teams in the country.
Notre Dame comes into the game as the No. 7 team in the AP poll while Texas A&M is No. 20.
Even though the game is being played at Texas A&M, Notre Dame still comes into it as a slight favorite. Per ESPN’s FPI, Notre Dame has a 58.6% chance of winning compared to 41.4% for Texas A&M.
This will be Marcus Freeman’s third season as head coach after leading the Fighting Irish to a 10-3 record last year. In two full seasons, he has a 19-7 record.
Mike Elko will make his Aggies debut as their head coach after taking over for Jimbo Fisher following his firing. Elko was most recently with the Duke Blue Devils as their head coach for two seasons and finished with a 16-9 record.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. ABC will have the national coverage of the contest.
