Jac Collinsworth will no longer call Notre Dame football games for NBC, according to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.
Collinsworth has been the play-by-play broadcaster for Notre Dame for the past two years. He’ll reportedly be replaced by NBC veteran Dan Hicks.
Hicks, who called games for the Fighting Irish a decade ago, will team up with former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
For the most part, college football fans are glad NBC changed up its broadcasting team for Notre Dame games.
“Notre Dame fans nationwide rejoice,” one person said in response to the news.
Another person wrote, “Prayers answered.”
“Let’s not kid ourselves … none of the gigs he has would have happened if his father isn’t who his father is,” a third fan added on social media.
It’s worth noting that Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge could end up calling a Notre Dame game next season. That’s because they’re considered the No. 1 broadcast duo for the network
If NBC considers a Notre Dame game the best matchup on the schedule, Eagle and Blackledge could get assigned to it. That’ll probably happen at some point next fall.
NBC will remain the broadcast outlet for Notre Dame’s home games through 2029.
