#7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Indiana Hoosiers

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are headed to the college football playoff — but we knew that over a week ago after they finished the regular season with an 11-1 record. What was finally unveiled on Sunday is the path to the national championship.

Notre Dame, despite being ranked #5, is the 7 seed in the playoff. Notre Dame’s opponent as the 10 seed is the 11-1 Indiana Hoosiers — who are actually ranked #8 by the committee.

We can have the discussion about if the Irish were robbed by the committee if you like. In many ways they were, and the most obvious benefactor of that robbery is the Penn State Nittany Lions, who host SMU with the winner going on to face Boise State.

I’ve quickly made my peace with it and look forward to the possibility of facing Penn State in the semifinals.
