Some teeth in this fight
#16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS #15 Louisville Cardinals
Time for a little bird revenge.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 3-1 and ranked #16 in the country after taking down Miami last weekend, but not all is well with the program. There are still a few questions surrounding the offense — and specifically the passing game with Riley Leonard at quarterback. After four games, it’s probably a bit of a stretch to think that much will change in that regard, but the running game is strong, so there is a chance that Mike Denbrock can help build more consistency in the passing game while leaning on the legs of Leonard and Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price.
The Irish defense, however, has been one of the best in the nation. Notre Dame is giving up less than 10 points a game and has only allowed three touchdowns all season. Louisville will be a much harder task than the first four games, but there is confidence in this unit that allows them to play balls out to help along their offensive pals.
This was considered a big game for the Irish before the season began, and maybe it’s even bigger now as Notre Dame continues to work towards putting NIU in the past. It helps that Louisville took down the Irish 33-20 last year in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the scoreboard showed. Either the Irish step up and continue a march to the playoff, or they fall on their face and really begin a season of despair.
