Class of 2025 five-star Jalen Haralson is staying home.
Haralson — the 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward out of La Lumiere (IN) and the Indiana Heat AAU program — announced his commitment to Notre Dame live with 247Sports. He chose the Fighting Irish over Indiana and Michigan State.
“When I went on my visit, I just connected with the coaching staff, the players,” Haralson said during the announcement. “I trust coach [Micah] Shrewsberry and my game. He had a vision for me that I couldn’t turn down. And ultimately I trust him to help me get to my end goal.”
Haralson later continued:
“Coach Shrews, he was Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown’s shooting coach. And that’s something I feel like I need to take the next step in my game. So I trust him to help me get there. But also the ACC is a big-time conference. I feel like it’s the conference that probably translates the most to the NBA. So overall, it was a good decision.”

Haralson becomes Notre Dame’s highest-ranked recruit in school history since 247Sports’ recruiting rankings started in 2010. Shrewsberry has grabbed him and four-star power forward Brady Koehler to kick off the 2025 class. Koehler and Haralson were AAU teammates with the Indy Heat.
“Jalen is super versatile and he really knows how to share the ball and get his teammates involved, even when he can really score anytime he wants,” Koehler told ZAGSBLOG.
Haralson is also close with Notre Dame assistant Ryan Owens, who was previously his AAU coach.
As for his game, Haralson describes himself to be more of a point guard. He can make plays with the ball in his hands and can really score it. At Peach Jam, Haralson averaged 16.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Additionally, he performed well this summer for the Team USA U17 squad in Turkey, averaging 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He shot 49.1% from the field and 38.5% from deep in Istanbul.
“One thing that Jalen continues to do is improve his game,” USA Basketball youth coach Don Showalter told ZAGSBLOG. “He was great for us with our U17 team after not being a part of our U16 team. He will bring great versatility and a high competitive nature to the college game. Jalen’s skill set will make other players much better!”
Basketball runs in the Haralson family. His father, Arthur Haralson, played college hoops for Nicholls State and overseas professionally in Norway. A fun fact about Haralson is that he’s a great singer. He loves to bump and sing his favorite artist, Rod Wave, in his free time.
Haralson was born in Anderson (IN), which is about two hours from South Bend. He is the No. 13 overall player in the 2025 class per 247Sports.
