Slow Start followed up some Offensive Fireworks
How’d We Do Last Week?
As a refresher, I feature the most interesting, most wildly inaccurate, and most accurate takes for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from the previous week. Let’s get started!
Most Wild Inaccurate
Evans played less than a dozen plays, mostly on third down. I think Notre Dame was pumping up his potential involvement with some gamesmanship. I expect light usage from him throughout all of September as he ramps up into full form heading into the meat of the schedule.
Most Interesting
Gotta shoutout Goldrush for the “refrigerated ranch dip sauce” take as well as the hot sauce theme (was used by CFarris and Santacos as well). This was both creative and accurate – the defense and special teams were dominant, paving the way for the Irish victory. I also love refrigerated Ranch dip…..So elite.
Most Accurate
(quietly shouting out myself for calling both QBs under 200 yards passing and a massive play by Christian Gray). However, credit to Andrewhm54 for one for one VERY specific part of his Hot Take.
Calling the well time draw to JD price going for a 40+ yard TD is a thing of beauty. While he had a slow day otherwise, that was the play of the game. I love how specific his take way while also being close to predicting Jeremiyah Love’s APY as well.
And now onto the takes for this week’s matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Northern Illinois Huskies
Cold Take
Notre Dame Starts very Slowly
Sadly, this team is full of humans who just had one of the highest of highs in college football. Winning in front of 107,000 people in dramatic fashion isn’t something to scoff at. While the Fighting Irish are the better team, NIU is not a terrible team and they will be highly motivated. Look for some sloppiness early on from all sides that may result in NIU being within striking distance midway through the second. From there, I trust Golden, Denbrock, and the playmakers to take over.
Hot Take
5 Different Players Score Touchdowns for Notre Dame
I am predicting roughly a 38-14 game with a late TD by NIU. With that said, the scoring comes from all different avenues here as Denbrock looks to open things up. Leonard should have more time, RBs should have more holes, and the plays will be more open in general. I will take it a step further and try to predict the type of TD, rough yards, and order…..
TD 1: Riley Leonard 8 yard rushing TD
TD 2: Beaux Collins 34 yard receiving TD
TD 3: Jeremiyah Love 17 yard rushing TD
TD 4: Jadarian Price 2 yard rushing TD
TD 5: Kris Mitchell 47 receiving yard TD
Your Takes: Please leave your takes below (hot, cold medium-any temp). I will feature the Top Takes next week. GO IRISH!
