NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TAKES
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TAKES
Simply put. There is no looking back. This has been a year of incredible takes, but only 1 thing matters now…..winning a National Championship. Read that again. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are playing for it all after losing to Northern Illinois and then going on a tear like we’ve never seen.
There is also no doubt that ND deserves to be here thanks to the 12 team playoff. Hell, they beat America’s darling Indiana like a drum, out physicaled the big bad SEC Champions, then took down the big 10 runner up in an all time classic…And that’s just the last 3 weeks. All that being said, it has been an incredible ride with all of you this season and I am looking forward to seeing some SCORCHING HOT Natty takes. Don’t hold anything back because we simply will not get any more takes until the Spring Game (do those count?).
Anyway, let’s get to the takes for the upcoming National Championship game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
COLD TAKE
ND hits on a gadget play
Notre Dame has hit on multiple gadget and trick plays this year, primarily on special teams. In this one, the Irish make a splash play on offense……now since this is the National Championships Cold Take…..I will get specific. Riley Leonard will show the speed option look after running that play two times. They will start the speed option and Leonard will pull back a la Navy/Army and hit a streaking Mitchell Evans down the seam for a touchdown. It will look a bit like a (much) cleaner version of this. Shoutout Buchner.
Notre Dame didn’t use too much playaction on Saturday, but this was effective. Great play design. If Kevin Bauman doesn’t drift towards the safety, it might have been a touchdown. pic.twitter.com/V77lOgvide

HOT TAKE
3 INTs
Is Ohio State unbeatable? Absolutely not. Are the currently playing like the best team in college football this entire year? Absolutely yes. The best path to victory for Notre Dame is winning the turnover battle by 2 (or the equivalent of a turnover with a goal line stand). Al Golden is not going to suddenly change who this team is and will play a heavy amount of man coverage and bring pressure all game. This will be different than what OSU has seen all year and will press Will Howard into making some errant throws and getting rattled late in the game. Xavier Watts, Christian Gray, Leonard Moore, and Jordan Clark will give up some big plays, but the 3 interceptions come from this group. This proves to be the difference and ND wins by 24-20 on the heels of their first National Championship since 1988.
