Irish goaltender Owen Say recorded 26 saves.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish closed out their time in Northern Ireland with a 4-3 loss to the Boston University Terriers. Notre Dame finished in second place in the Friendship Four tournament.
Game Summary (BU 4, Notre Dame 3)
First Period
The Terriers wasted no time getting after it on offense and fired away at the Irish net. Seconds after recording the sole penalty of the opening period with a cross-checking call for Brehdan Engum, the shorthanded terriers got on the board with a goal from Kamil Bednarik. After some back and forth, Notre Dame’s Hunter Strand responded with his team’s first goal of the night. Fifteen seconds later, Justin Janicke put a pass from Danny Nelson to use and notched his fifth goal of the season to tie it up for the Irish. By the end of the first, the Irish narrowly outshot the Terriers 10-9.
Second Period
Irish started the middle stanza with a holding penalty on Michael Mastrodomenico, but the Terriers failed to capitalize on the power play. Soon after the two squads were back to even strength, Blake Biondi added a third goal for the Irish. The period ended with some angsty on-ice activities, and the Terriers outshot the Irish 8-7 in the second.
