Notre Dame broke out of their mid-week blues with a 7-1 over Valparaiso in South Bend.

Irish Shut Down Beacons in Win
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team took a 7-1 win over visiting Valparaiso on Tuesday night.
Brady Koester came on in relief with a pair of runners on base in the top of the fourth and went on to strike out back-to-back batters to shut the door on an early scoring chance.
The Irish put five runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth to break up a 0-0 stalemate. Davis Johnson led off with a single, and Connor Hincks hit a no-doubt home run to right field for a 2-0 lead. Estevan Moreno then came up and laced a double down the left field line. Parker Brzustewicz then drove in Moreno with a triple to right-center field. Jayce Lee drove a two-run home run over the left field wall for the 5-0 lead.
The Beacons plated an unearned run in the top of the sixth to make it a 5-1 game. Justin Mayes Jr. had a key bases-loaded strikeout with two outs to end the seventh to preserve the four-run. The Irish countered with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Carson Tinney blasted a lead-off home run 387 feet to left field in the seventh as the Irish went ahead 7-1.
Chase Van Ameyde retired the side in order in the top of the eighth with a pair of strikeouts and a ground out. Notre Dame added to the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Parker Brzustewicz drew a lead-off walk, and Noah Coy was hit by a pitch with one out gone. DM Jefferson drew a two-out walk, and Carson Tinney added a walk to drive in Brzustewicz for the 7-1 Irish lead.
Keenan Mork had a pair of strikeouts and later closed out the game with a pop up with bases loaded to preserve the 7-1 home victory.
Kellan Klosterman struck out four with just one hit and no runs in 3.1 innings of work in a no-decision effort on the mound. Brady Koester picked up the win on the mound after striking out a pair. Xavier Hirsch went 2.0 on the bump and allowed just one hit. Sammy Cooper, Justin Mayes Jr., Chase Van Ameyde, and Keenan Mork closed out the final three innings for the Irish. Mayes, Van Ameyde, and Mork each struck out a pair.
Connor Hincks, Jayce Lee, and Carson Tinney each belted a home run in the victory. Hincks went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, a double, and a run. Lee was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run. Tinney added a 1-for-3 effort with two walks, two RBI, and a run. Bino Watters, Jared Zimbardo, and Davis Johnson each had two hits. Watters had a double, and Johnson posted a double, a walk, and a run. Parker Brzustewicz was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run, and Estevan Moreno was 1-for-2 with a double and a run.
The Irish (17-17) hit the road for an ACC series at Stanford this upcoming weekend. Game one of the three-game series is slated for 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT on Friday, April 18.
