The Notre Dame Fighting Irish impressed a lot of people across the country with Saturday night’s road win over the Texas A&M Aggies. Despite only being 3 point underdogs, Notre Dame was the overwhelming pick to lose in College Station. A ten-point win has turned a few heads — enough heads to help the Irish rise two spots to #5 in the AP Poll after a week of cupcakes for most of the rest of the country.
In getting the win, Notre Dame knocked out the Aggies from the top 25. An 0-2 start knocked the Florida State Seminoles from #10 to unranked — and now the two teams that most considered to be the toughest tests for the Irish this year aren’t even ranked.
The USC Trojans, however, took a big leap up the rankings after taking down the LSU Tigers, and both the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (23) and Louisville Cardinals (22) climbed into the final 25.
