Yeehaw
According to a report by Chip Brown from Horns 247, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Texas Longhorns, are close to finalizing a deal to play a home and home series for the 2028 and 2029 seasons.

Notre Dame is 9-3 all-time against Texas, and has won three of the last four games. The Irish won back-to-back games in 1995 and 1996 and then again in 2015. In 2016, however, a Brian VanGorder defense helped Texas edge the Irish in overtime.
While no one is advocating for a murderer’s row for the football schedule, this premiere matchup will definitely bolster Notre Dame’s strength of schedule in 2028 and 2029. Once this deal is finalized, Notre Dame will still have multiple slots available to schedule other opponents for both seasons.
This schedule move would give the Irish two SEC opponents for both the 28 and 29 seasons to go along with the 5 ACC teams and Navy. Noticeably absent from Notre Dame’s future schedule is Southern Cal — although I wouldn’t be too concerned about it (despite Lincoln Riley’s cowardice).
