The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are introducing another new uniform for the upcoming Shamrock Series game but this one isn’t going over so well with the fans.
On Wednesday, the Fighting Irish unveiled their new uniforms, which feature a solid blue primary color and gold accents throughout. But the extra effect that was added to this version of it was the use of shiny numbers.
Conceptually the design may have been fine, but the execution of it really seems to bother a lot of people who are simply calling it ugly.
It’s in the details ✨

“The officials shouldn’t even allow this on the field. Shiny gold numbers are practically impossible to read from a distance. You want to sell this in the gift store? Fine. But this is costume, not a uniform,” one user wrote.
“The font used for the numbers is so bad. Reminds me exactly of making these S and E’s as a kid in school,” wrote another.
“Easy candidate for worst uniform design ever created. For any sport. Ever,” a third declared.
There was also a good number of people who thought the uniforms looked nice and might wind up buying them.
But if this many people are already ripping them, the reaction once they’re on national television is likely to be worse. This isn’t the first time that the Shamrock Series uniforms in particular have left people scratching their heads either.
Would you change anything about the design?
