Taking a dip
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish did everything they were supposed to do last week — which is to say that they were at home eating those cheeseburgers we talk about all of the time. Notre Dame is prepping for the final four game stretch of the regular season — and a likely berth in the College Football Playoff if they win those four games. It’s time to buckle up.
So how did the Irish opponents do this week?
#15 Texas A&M Aggies — LOST vs South Carolina Gamecocks (7-2) —
Northern Illinois — BYE (4-4) —
Purdue Boilermakers — LOST vs Northwestern Wildcats (1-7) —
Miami Redhawks — BYE (4-4) —
#25 Louisville Cardinals — WON vs Clemson Tigers (6-3) —
Stanford Cardinal — LOST vs NC State Wolfpack (2-7) —
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — BYE (5-4) —
Navy Midshipmen — LOST vs Rice (6-2) —
Florida State Seminoles — LOST vs North Carolina Tar Heels (1-8) —
Virginia Cavaliers — BYE(4-4) —
#18 Army Black Knights — WON vs Air Force Falcons (8-0) —
USC Trojans — LOST vs Washington Huskies (4-5) —
Notre Dame dropped two spots in the AP Poll this week to #10. The voters are still trying to deal with a number of undefeated and one loss teams, so the drop shouldn’t come as any surprise. The truth of the matter is that we get the first batch of CFP rankings on Tuesday, and the AP Poll will go back in the drawer (kind of) until after the national championship game.
