Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt announced Wednesday morning he will enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
A projected top-10 pick, Alt will skip the upcoming Sun Bowl against Oregon State as he begins draft prep, though he said in his announcement on Instagram he will attend the game.
“In my heart, I know it is time for me to take the next step of my journey,” Alt wrote. “I would like to officially announce that I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft and be opting out of the bowl game.”
Alt also included a shoutout to Notre Dame fans in his statement.
“Saturdays in Notre Dame Stadium playing for the Notre Dame fans is what I will remember the most,” Alt wrote. “Truly the best fan base in America.”
The son of former longtime NFL offensive lineman John Alt, Alt was a captain for the Fighting Irish this season.
In three years at Notre Dame, he appeared in 38 games with 33 starts at left tackle. Alt was a first-team AP All-American in 2022 and was a semifinalist and finalist for the Lombardi Award in 2023.
