Micah Shrewsberry is rolling on the recruiting trail, picking up his fourth commit in the past two weeks. This time, four-star big man Tommy Ahneman has pledged to the Fighting Irish.
Ahneman — the 6-foot-10, 235-pound big man from Cretin Derham Hall (MN) — chose Notre Dame over his other finalists Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Ahneman took an official visit to Notre Dame this past weekend.
“I choose them because of the culture feel and fit with their program,” Ahneman told ZAGSBLOG.
This summer AAU season with Howard Pulley on the EYCL Circuit, Ahneman posted averages of 20.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. The EYCL is Nike’s secondary league to the EYBL.
The Fighting Irish now have Ahneman, five-star Jalen Haralson, four-star sniper Ryder Frost and four-star stretch forward Brady Koehler committed in the 2025 class. Shrewsberry already had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country before Ahneman committed, and he’s now added to it.
Ahneman said Notre Dame’s strong class was a “major factor” in the decision. It’s been a good past couple of weeks for Notre Dame basketball.
