Goodbye sweet Ohio prince
It’s that time of year where there is a lot of bittersweet news. Notre Dame tight end Mitchell Evans made it Instagram official by foregoing his final year of eligibility in college and declaring for the NFL Draft.
I think the two injury-plagued years would have been enough to grant him a 5th year, but he wants to move on and who can blame him.
Evans was a fantastic tight end for the Irish and in 45 games he caught 77 passes for 903 yards and 5 touchdowns. Evans’s injuries were an issue, and even though he played a full season in 2024, he really didn’t look like he got up to 100% until halfway through the season.
Evans, an Ohioan, was a really good pass-catcher and a solid blocker while in South Bend. He was also one of the greatest short-yardage quarterbacks in recent history with his Mitch-a-Palooza dives.
He will be greatly missed, but we hope he does great things in the NFL.
Good luck Mitch!
