SB Nation Reacts: Most of the country doesn’t believe Notre Dame can win VS Ohio State

In a recent SB Nation Reacts survey, fans from all over the country were given a chance to give Notre Dame a chance in the National Championship against the Ohio State Buckeyes. While 61% would bet that the Irish at least cover with +8.5 points, only 35% of those surveyed think the Irish will win.

Those sound like pretty big odds that are stacked against the Irish. If Notre Dame wins it all with a 15-1 record… you really should put this team up at the top of the best team to ever play in South Bend, but 21% don’t think it’s good enough for that title.

Personally — I say the statue should be ready for when Marcus Freeman gets off the plane… but that probably won’t happen.

This isn’t a nod at accepting a moral victory — not at all. However, even if Notre Dame loses in the championship, there’s no sane person on earth who can say this season wasn’t a success for Notre Dame. They already brought home an Orange Bowl trophy and a Sugar Bowl trophy, and that’s kind of a big deal.

I liked asking this question. I don’t know what it says about the fanbase, but I do find it funny that more chose to bet their retirement over their home. In terms of dollars and cents… that’s a big difference.

Random questions were asked about the format. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and the only change I’d like to see is more on campus games.
