There is an obvious choice
On New Year’s Day, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will square off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl as part of the quarterfinals for the college football playoff. Of all of the things that matter in this game — and the list is long — one of the things that matter the least is what uniform the Irish will wear.
So OF COURSE we’re going to talk about the uniforms. We kind of have to.
There isn’t just a willingness by Notre Dame and Under Armour to create new postseason uniforms; there is kind of an unspoken mandate. Despite all of the silliness surrounding the black jersey rumors before the Indiana game, the Irish still came out on something we haven’t seen before.
So what if the Irish come out in something we’ve seen before — or at least a close version of it?
Notre Dame has brought out a wide variety of uniform combinations over the last couple of years, but one version we haven’t seen is the white away jerseys with the green numbers. The Sugar Bowl seems as good of a time as any to break it out. Obviously, we all remember what it looked like in the 1992 Sugar Bowl against the Florida Gators as seen in the slideshow below.
BUT…
There are plenty of fans who forget about the uniforms in another Sugar Bowl — the one the Irish lost against the Georgia Bulldogs as seen in the slideshow below.
SOOOOO….
Why not this year? It seems like an obvious fashion win, and one that fans will embrace.
Notre Dame might just come out in their normal away uniforms with the names on the back, but should they? Or… should they come out in an alternate uniform? Vote in the poll and sound off below in the comment section.
