Whether he was knocking or not… he was knocking
You kind of forget about the circus of the big bowl games a little bit as the college football regular season wound down and the 12 team playoff system started up for the first time. And so, here we are at the Orange Bowl between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Penn State Nittany Lions — and the main discourse the day before is about some press conference statements.
Most head coaches look at these press conferences as something to just get past, and go into them with charge of “do no harm.” Penn State head coach James Franklin, however, likes a press conference to be a place where he thinks he’s being smart and litigious.
In reality, he looks like a whiney clown.
The media is partly to blame as they consistently ask questions to head coaches which at the end of the day — they have absolutely no control over. Yes, it affects them and their program, but given the fact that they aren’t the ones making the decisions, it’s always best to sidestep and bullshit — unless you’re Nick Saban (who Franklin can only wish to be half of the coach that Saban was).
Essentially this all boils down to Franklin’s comments about how he wants to see uniformity in college football — which includes wanting all teams in a conference. He doesn’t think it’s fair that they have to play more games than the Irish.
“This is no knock at coach or Notre Dame, but I think everybody should be in a conference.”

Obviously, his flawed thinking is unable to make any type of sense considering the fact that Ohio State has played the same amount of games as Notre Dame… but yeah bro — ok.
It’s just James Franklin whining and giving a prerequisite defense of losing another big game.
College football will NEVER be uniform around the country. The conference he loves and has cucked himself to is too damn big. There are years, like this year, where the top half of the conference barely have any games scheduled against one another… but it’s unfair that Notre Dame doesn’t have to go to a conference championship game and lose like Penn State did.
What a phenomenal waste of time — especially the day before the biggest game of the season for both teams. This, all coming from a man and a program that has done nothing for years. They can never beat the good teams on its schedule, and then are somehow gifted a big bowl game against other programs that are pretty mid. Even this season… they lose to the ONE team on its schedule, get a gift from Michigan to make it to the Big 10 Championship game, lose to Oregon, and then get the easiest path to the semifinals of ANY team in the 12 team playoff.
Give me break, clown. All of this whining and complaining while sitting next to a man that actually has left blood, sweat, and tears on every Big 10 field while playing for a program that has owned Franklin — CLOWN BEHAVIOR. It was absolutely absurd.
While Franklin looked like he could never shut up during the press conference whether it was about conference lifestyles or Freeman’s good looks, Marcus looked annoyed and locked in for the game at hand.
